After the water sample to be tested is oxidized and digested by alkaline potassium sulfate, the nitrogen compounds in it are converted into nitrates. The absorbance is detected by the principle of ultraviolet spectrophotometry, and the concentration of total nitrogen in the water sample is calculated.
